The 77% Weekly
The 40/52-weeks-a-year, quick-reading, thought-lingering, spiritual-religious newsletter.

Religion-Outside-The-Box (oldrotb.wpengine.com) is a donation supported not-for-profit empowering adults to find and be with (the) God (of their understanding).

24/40
From the desk of Rabbi Brian

I crochet my own yarmulkes. I learned to crochet as an elective in 5th grade and picked it back up a few years ago.

While crocheting, I thought to myself, “Crocheting is all right, but knitting, knitting is really cool.”

So I set out to learn how to knit.

And, I did.

What I learned was:

1) I have a tendency to discount what I do and know.

2) I think that what I don’t know how to do is cooler than what I do know.

3) I don’t like knitting.

I know I’m not alone in 2/3 of those.

Few of us are satisfied with our current situation; we always think things could (and should) be improved.

We
all think the grass is greener on the other side. We act as though
things might be different (and we would be better off) if they were
other than how they are. This longing runs counter to the
spiritual-religious law of acceptance.

Spiritual-religious exercise for the week: Notice
your tendency towards longing for other than what you have. (When the
situation arises, notice what your thought process is, and what you
tell yourself about it.) The first step toward change is to notice what
needs to be changed.

With love,

Rabbi Brian

The 77% Weekly

The 77% Weekly: The Religion-Outside-The-Box Newsletter
helps people find and be with (the) God (of their understanding) 40 out of 52 weeks a year.

Why 77%?
Two reasons:
1) 40/52 = 0.76923. The newsletter is sent every Monday except the last of each month.
2) In school 77% was a passing grade and ROTB wants to remind you that life isn’t graded, it’s pass/fail.

Religion-Outside-The-Box is a donation-supported,
non-denominational, internet-based, 501c3-tax exempt religious congregation.
