Angry Words
Logo for 77% Weekly

Help me, 0 God, to
build a conscious barrier around my hurtful speech so that when I feel
angry these awful words will not easily leap over the fence of good
reason and kindness. Help me to remember that, like an arrow shot into
the air, an unkind word that is spoken can never be taken back.

Help
me when I am upset with someone to not just stop at ten in my counting
before I speak. Supply me with as many larger numbers as it takes to
enable me to speak words that will bless rather than burden someone
else’s life.
I
wish I could have recalled those words I spoke in anger. Lord. They
slipped out of my mouth before I could stop them. Even as I heard them
fall from my lips I knew they were the wrong words. They were the worst
words I could have spoken. I saw her face. She looked as though I had
slapped her. I had. I had slapped her with my words. Thoughtless,
venom-filled words. The sting of them went to the very marrow of her
soul. I knew I had done more than surface damage. Those careless
remarks were the wounding instruments of pain that I knew would linger
long after the actual words were forgotten.

Love,
Larry.

The 77% Weekly

The 77% Weekly: The Religion-Outside-The-Box Newsletter
helps people find and be with (the) God (of their understanding) 40 out of 52 weeks a year.

Why 77%?
Two reasons:
1) 40/52 = 0.76923. The newsletter is sent every Monday except the last of each month.
2) In school 77% was a passing grade and ROTB wants to remind you that life isn’t graded.

Religion-Outside-The-Box is a donation-supported,
non-denominational, internet-based, 501c3-tax exempt religious congregation.

Five More Wisdom Biscuits

  1. I know garbage “You should put the garbage bins back where they were before you remodelled,” I tell the managers of the Grant High School construction project when they host a neighborhood forum. “Funny thing, that,” the lady in charge says, “It’s a bit counterintuitive.” She explains something city planners learned about beaches. “If there is a garbage

A Big Ask

Beloved, What I’m about to ask is a very big ask. You (probably) aren’t going to want to do it. But I’m still going to ask. Because it’s important. Very important. Stop hating.   ✧✧✧   “No one is born hating another person… People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to
