Rabbi Brian
About me!
Hi. I’m Rabbi Brian Zachary Mayer.
I rabbi differently. My focus is on teaching adults tools for compassion, kindness, and love.
I run ROTB.org, a worldwide, internet congregation of over 3,500 members. I enjoy constructing small bios, making stained glass lamps, and gaining mastery on the French horn. I live in Portland, Oregon and am thinking a lot about gender and patriarchy these days.
In the early 2000’s I sent emails to friends giving my perspective on religion. That became a blog which morphed into The 77% Weekly Newsletter.
Before COVID, getting people on Zoom was a struggle. Not anymore.
ROTB has grown organically and now boasts 3.5K members.

Caretaker Support Group
O.U.2 — as in “Oh, you too” — is the name of the ROTB support group for people who care for others. It’s a space where caregivers can feel heard and seen by others who share the same difficult role.

Prison Ministry
My Buddhist friend Nagy, of blessed memory, told me to write letters to James #CA_AU5200, which I did and we estabilished a friendship co-teaching a correspondance course about patience.
Together we have helped scores of inmates to write and publish their own books.
We support in-facility eduction events like the Pledge of Peace.
ROTB has also helped 100’s with basic hygine products.
